This short report from Venezuela was on the English language Al-Jazeera on Thursday. To my untrained eye it looks like a revolutionary government putting weapons into the hands of its supporters.

The Arabic Al-Jazeera is rather more gory than the English. For example if it has a report on ten bodies being found you get to see them in more detail than you’d prefer while eating your dinner. So far I’ve found the English service pretty impressive. There’ll be no need to watch CNN or BBC World when you are abroad if you can get this. Tonight’s bulletin featured this report as well as items on the French Socialist Party, the elections in Congo, Iraq and some deal the French and Italians are cobbling together to stitch up the Palestinians.

By a process too dull to describe I’ve now managed to get the soundtrack which was lacking from the earlier version.
