This video features Daniel Tanuro. He is an environmentalist and the ecological correspondent of the newspaper of the Socialist Workers Party (POS/SAP, Belgian section of the Fourth International), “La Gauche”.
He looks at Marx’s ecology, how the far left has been slow in taking the environmental crisis seriously and sticks the boot into the Stern report.
We tried to do something a bit different with the camera here. The superficial observer may assume that the camera operator wasn’t aware of the zoom function or didn’t think to move the camera. This isn’t so. We decided to use the distance between observer and subject to show how capitalist commodity fetishism alienates us from other people. The head that keeps popping in front of the lens represents our sense of frustration at the obstacles the bourgeoisie puts in the path to socialism. It’s innovative, challenging film making masked as incompetence.
