A hastily arranged protest greeted Tony Blair when he visited the London Chest Hospital earlier today. As you can see from the photo his safety wasn’t in any serious jeopdardy. Apparently the voyeuristic ghoul watched an operation take place before explaining why it’s so hard to get to see your GP around here. Or something.
I managed to protest against him twice in one morning. There were rather more people there at 9.20 and I was interviewed by BBC London Radio. I think they judged my remarks so threatening to the established order that they were too frightened to broadcast them. Though they did take my number and said they’d be in touch to do a follow up story about the estate. Blair didn’t turn up again until 10.15 by which time I’d gone home to contemplate some DIY. The only DIY I can do competently is hoovering so I am always grateful for a chance to shirk the other varieties involving hammers and screwdrivers. When I returned to the hospital this was the demo. It’s predominantly Respect members. Some sixth formers from a nearby school turned up. I told them what was happening and it looked for a moment like they might join in. No such luck. They wanted to buy sweets in the hospital shop because they aren’t sold in school anymore. It was a valiant effort in the circumstances.
