As the Approach Tavern’s leading expert on the politics of Nepal I’m used to arousing fierce opinions. I came across this article on what appears to be some sort nutty news website. The author has a blog on Nepal here too. Apart from expressing the not uncommon view that I don’t know what I’m talking about I’m not too sure what his or her point is. Still it’s better than not being talked about.

Being puzzled by your reference to the Approach Tavern, I looked it up on the web. It seems to be a ‘bohemian’ pub. Good fun, no doubt, but certainly insufficiently proletarian.Marx may have been a piss-artist, but Lenin most certainly was not – thank you very much. Further, you may take some pride in not being ignored, but not much, really, since appearing in that rag is not dissimilar to being ignored.But why was a rather odd publication so enthralled by you? Who have you been mixing with? I think we should be told – security and all that.It’s Friday night again.

The thing is that all the proletarian pubs round here are dives that don’t sell decent beer. You never get a bad pint in the Approach and it has a jukebox with a lot of my record collection.In any case I used to go there when even the lumpenproletariat used to shun it.
