When your handwriting is as indecipherable as mine it’s best to do your notes for a meeting on a computer beforehand. These slides are some thoughts on Copenhagen and a response to it around which I’ll improvise this evening. If the title seems a little melodramatic it was the slogan of some of the delegates from the developing world at the failed climate talks and sums up their situation pretty accurately.

A bit of lukewarm off the press news is that the Fourth International’s World Congress voted last week to declare itself “ecosocialist” with the strongest support coming from organisations in the global south, in particular the Philippines, where the comrades have apparently established their version of Chiapas to which they have reintroduced indigenous types of plants and banned genetically modified seeds. More on this in the fullness of time.
