In an uncharacteristically ambitious project this site will be offering updates of left candidates’ results as they come in through the night and tomorrow morning. Mike MP, who needs less sleep than I do, will be crunching the numbers to give you your one stop shop for all the left votes.

Brilliant. Can I put in a plea for You Tube videos of you and Mike pushing little coloured flags around a sand table? (steal a march on Counterfire!)

  2. I did used to run a late night webcam service but couldn’t get enough subscribers to make it worthwhile.

Readers looking for a minute by minute Ulster Scots perspective employing “a tap level newroom wi’ twa TVs, a wireless an’ a computer” can go to the link below.

  3. Don’t know which of these posts to express my shock and delight that Peter Robinson lost his East Belfast seat. No matter the if the lack of good news is the story of the rest of the night (I have a press post of coffee and a pint of ice cream for the long haul), this at least put an unexpected smile on my face. How I’d love to see Gerry go next. (replaced by whom is another question). Thanks for doing election night special this Liam.

  4. BNP fails to win a seat, Griffin and co lose in Barking. Yet BNP vote is up in some areas and Griffin 3rd in Dagenham. Well done to UAF and others in campaigning against the BNP.

BNP and far right fail to win yet there vote is up in some areas, although in some areas including Dagenham down on last time.

However, if one combines vote for UKIP, BNP and England Comes First party it shows there is a core of support, albeit marginal, for fascist and racist votes.

The issue remains one of combatting the racist arguements and combining it with a socialist alternative in an effective manner. This is an issue that we need to face up to.
