Jerry Hicks who is standing for General Secretary of Unite and Paul Holmes who is contesting the same post in UNISON spoke at a joint press conference in London on Thursday 13 May. I’ll be posting video clips from both over the next couple of days.

A strikingly handsome chap asked Jerry “how do you think Willie Walsh feels about the new coalition government?”

Jerry’s reply is a study of controlled passionate fury against the union officials who are stabbing their members in the back.

Derek Simpson – that means you.

  1. Good to see that passion – impressive stuff from Jerry.

  2. But Derek Simpson isn’t standing in this election. Len McCluskey, the Assistant General Secretary with responsible for the dispute, is standing. And most of the BA Cabin Crew think he’s doing a pretty good job in standing up to Simpson.

  3. And so do the Socialist Party. But isn’t the whole point of leadership – that they should know better?
