Demonstration called by United East End and Unite Against Fascism.

As you may have read in the press, the EDL is planning to come to Tower Hamlets on Sunday 20th June.  The EDL is a bigoted organisation whose presence in our borough is a deliberate provocation and an attempt to divide our multi-ethnic, multi-faith community.  Their plans were immediately condemned by our two local MPs, the leader of the Council and our London Assembly member, as well as a wide range of trade union, peace, faith and cultural organisations. 

‘United East End’ has been formed to reflect our diverse borough and organise a peaceful counter demonstration against the EDL.  Full details of our demonstration are yet to be confirmed, but at this stage, we are trying to contact every voluntary organisation, board of governors, tenant association, youth club and community group in Tower Hamlets to ask for your support and encourage you to get involved in building this demonstration.

Sunday 20 June – Assemble 11am, Altab Ali Park, Adler Street, Whitechapel – march to Cable StreetRally

Rally 7pm, Sunday 13 June, London Muslim Centre, 46 Whitechapel Road , London E1 1JX
