At long last Karl Kautsky’s Foundations of Christianity is now available and we have already had a request for a review copy from International Socialism. Any other bona fide reviewers who want a copy can e mail me.

In Britain you can get it here and everywhere else you can get it here.

  1. So the SWP want a “review copy” of a work first published in 1908…so it is true that they don’t carry out much political education then?

You can bet that copy will end up for sale in Bookmarks.

  2. Since the book is out of print, one can hardly criticise the SWP for not including this in its education programme. While it’s a good example of using Marxism to discuss topics, but Kautsky’s conclusion is rather wishful — he suggests that early Christianity was communistic.

You’re also missing the point: this edition contain not just Kautsky’s book, but also essays by Michael Lowy and David Packer, as well an introduction by Mac Uaid. It’s totally reasonable for a reviewer to want to look at the book’s production quality and presentation.

And if it’s sold after it’s read… so what?

  3. Bit strapped for cash at the moment so have just ordered this for my local library.

As for Bookmarks , I’m sure the publishers have approached them to take some copies.

Otherwise the publishers are not doing their jobs .
