Next week I make my annual trip to Birmingham. Into every life a little rain must fall. I have to speak at a Socialist Resistance meeting. Powerpoint is a useful way of pulling your thoughts together and this presentation is roughly what I’m going to be saying. In twenty minutes it’s not possible to be fully comprehensive and it’s part of the discussion for our conference next week.

Your blog looks much better now, than what I remember of it from before.

Hey, Liam — Solidarity is going to be starting a webzine (finally dragging ourselves into the 21st century; it’s long overdue) and so far I’ve been tinkering around with entries. I’m one of the editors. I wondered if we could just snaffle your slideshow, giving due credit, obviously. The one thing I don’t see us having in the format, yet, is a blogroll with links to other left blogs, like yours. I have suggested this, but there’s no motion on it yet. The webzine should be going public shortly (how shortly, I don’t know), and I’ll tell you when it does, obviously.
But can we borrow the slideshow?

Re slide 17. George Monbiot, having read another report, has all manner of techno fix solutions that he’s going to convince the state to implement; grids from Turkey to Iceland, zero carbon emissions through carbon rationing and others that no doubt he’ll share with us in his new plan for the globe, after his last master plan for global democracy in Age of Consent.
At climate camp, he made one solitary mention of a trade union, to quote some stats produced by the RMT on freight. Instead, he thrilled the students by assuring them that they were the social movement to a standing ovation

Robin Sivapalan, I signed a petition in your defence over the Blair demo at a school.
