Great! I’ve been told that I have to sum up Latin America and what we should be doing about it in twenty minutes on Sunday morning at the SR AGM. Here’s a draft of what I’ll be saying.

Due to overwhelming popular demand from one person I’ve included some of the documents which will inform the discussion which you can download as a pdf.

    Wow, fancy technical stuff.

Kinda off topic but I see in your events diary that there is Socialist Resistance Forum on Women’ s Liberation in November.

Have you got any further information on this?

  3. Do you have the discussion document for the Latin American session?- I read the “Savage Capitalism” document and found it quite stimulating and interesting

  4. Liam, I am sad to correct you on this one, but there aren’t 1200 occupied factories in Venezuela. Chávez made an appeal to occupy 1200 factories and the ministry of labour under M Cristina Iglesias did provide the list of such factories, but none of the wings of the UNT took up the call, not the left nor the right, so… the actual number of occupied factories is much smaller (many organised by Freteco)

  5. Chavez could ofcourse fuck up but is definately the best hope of the left, and of course Venezuela is much more than Chavez but from going to Caracas and talking to people my impression is of a left which is more pragmatic, pluaralist, green and revolutionary than what we have seen before.
