ChavezThere is little in the world that I detest more than football. This is an exceptional case when the need to express solidarity with the Venezuelan revolution has to override other deeply held convictions. Thanks to Mark.

In the summer Venezuela hosted unarguably Latin America’s biggest sporting event of the year, football’s Copa America. Best-known for his love of football Chavez opened the tournament saying ” Today no one will lose, everyone will be a winner, because this is the same motherland, our South America, our America.” And in tribute to the continent’s most able player down the left-wing the self-styled ‘sporting outfitters of intellectual distinction’ of www.philosophyfootball.com have released their very own tribute to the Bolivarian revolutionary. Based on the same red T-shirt worn in their millions by Venezuela’s ‘Chavistas’ the shirt is ideal for all Christmas red stockings, with the added bonus that any profits go to Venezuela solidarity and material aid projects. 2. tut tut… typical usfi tailing chavez, sandinistas, galloway, lula, tito, mao, fln etc. etc.

    just joking of course :-p

anyway i like football. not enough leicester city shirts on that site for me to be interested in a purchase.

unfortunately leicester city are now owned by an anti-communist millionaire who was expelled by tito. still if he gets us promoted i’ll let him off.

maybe that website could do an swp ‘witch-hunted out of respect’ special commemorative t-shirt to sell at next years marxism event.

    best wishes,

  3. Great shirt.

However,I do think their should much greater debate about the POLITICS OF FOOTBALL and THE FACT THAT FOOTBALLERS WAGES ARE OBSCENE.The recent limited and muted discussion in ‘ the news ‘ about how obscene footballers wages are offers an opportunity for the left to intervene and open up an in depth discussion.

Personally, I think it is obscene that anyone earns over £ 100,00 a year nevermind a week.
