webzine Have you been wondering where you can spend three days talking about  “Heteronormativity, Gender, and Work?” I may be able to help. The icing on the cake is that you’ll also be able to “strategize about how, as activists, we can build a democratic, revolutionary movement that reflects our intersectional analysis”. That’s assuming you don’t already do it everyday. Just click on the link below.

Solidarity, the US organisation has launched a “webzine“. They are set to be all the rage. It’s a cross between a blog and a website, as best I can make out. If you want to get a flavour of some of the discussions on the US left and see how US socialists are active it’s a useful starting point.

With the elections due next year it’s likely to be a great source of information about how socialists who won’t opt for the lesser evil of supporting the Democrats are engaging with the process.

  1. It’s true, I asked for snark. I don’t know that I asked for snark THAT snarky, but whatever, we Yanks have tough hides. What you’re quoting is the socialist-feminist retreat rather than the blog. I bet it will be amazing. I wish I could go.

Thank you for the boost, comrade.

  3. Wow, trends sure spread quickly (and in mysterious ways) over this newfangled internet thing. Since, and perhaps even before Solidarity has coined this word, thousands of people have been publishing “webzines.” According to wikipedia (this is an obscure online editable encyclopedia of sorts), webzines have been around for several years. Obviously, Solidarity has not only coined this new word, but developed a time traveling device to propagate this terminology. This could only speak to the amazing strength of the socialist movement in the U.S.

  4. By the way, a search for “webzine” gets thousands of links on Google (it’s this website where you can type a word and find matches to it on the ENTIRE INTERNET!). Crazy, yeah?

  5. RH it’s a new word to me and I still think it sounds horrible. That’s not the same as not thinking it’s a very good idea which SR might nick. As da yout in my code say “chill man”
(yout = youth, code = postcode / area, chill = calm down, man = man / woman / boy / girl)

What an utterly awful word! I agree!
Can they just not call it a web site of a “special type”?
