The Cuban Communist Party paper Granma has just published this from the Cuban press agency:

New Political Party in France ?

Marlen Borges

(Prensa Latina) A new anti-capitalist political party might become a reality in France next week during the 17th Congress of the Communist  Revolutionary League in Paris .

This objective, proposed by Olivier Besancenot, leader of the organization, would become the hope of all those who want a well-defined left wing, and are
disappointed with the current contradictions of the most radical organizations.

Much is unknown about this project except that it counts on significant support from young people.  Some days ago, Besancenot, second most-voted leftwing
presidential candidate in France after Segolene Royal, expressed his confidence on the approval of the  project.

More than 80 percent of Communist Revolutionary League militants agree with the creation of the organization. In the opinion of this new political group with rising popularity, French President Nicolas Sarkozy is trying to destroy all the social conquests of the  French population.

Besancenot, co-author of a book on Ernesto “Che” Guevara 40 years after his murder, told France Info that if there is a great fiscal deficit in the country and the economy is weak, it is a consequence of many neoliberal policies by other governments.

  1. maybe the cuban communist party would like to legalise the formation of new anti-capitalist parties in their own country now, including trotskyist parties.

the usfi are so uncritical of the cuban bureaucracy and its party its embarassing.

  2. KS my understanding is that criticising the absence of a plurality of parties has always been an element of the FI’s critical support of the Cuban revolution.
