  1. Liam, There’s a bizarre typo on the leaflet Yvonne Ridley is down as Sr. I didn’t know she was spanish or a man

  2. Would that be the kind of typo that smears someone as a forger of cheques?

  3. Kevin, are you getting paid to write this shit or doing it for free?

  4. Martin

Any chance of you apologising for smearing someone for forging cheque signatures? Look, sonny, you shouldn’t make sardonic quips if you’ve got rice paper skin.

  5. Kevin, no idea what you are talking about wrt cheque signatures or rice paper skin. Perhaps you’d consider laying off the patronising tone.

Do you know why Ridley is referred to as Señor on the poster, is particularly strange.

  6. Martin- you didn’t used to be so ignorant and faux-thick before you fell in with the AWL.

Just for those who can’t be arsed to play Martin’s games, he is on record (maybe on this blog, maybe on Soc Unity) falsely accusing Rob Hoveman of forging signatures.
Do you want to deny you said that Martin?- in which case we will take it as retraction and apology.

As for the Yvonne Ridley thing, I suggest you buy a good dictionary of abbreviations- English would be best if you don’t want to confuse yourself further. Better still, why not ask a trades unionist, what the abbreviation Sr stands for. Its not rocket science.

  7. Well I’ve been banned from posting on the SU website for quite some months, although it is my understanding that the old SU blog carries articles -written by Andy Newman- (SENTENCE DELETED) Perhaps Rob himself would like to clarify who exactly did what and on whose instructions.

Well according to my dictionairy Sr. means either Señor (spanish equivilent of Mr.) or Sister -referring to a Nun. I’m sure Ridely is neither.

I’ve only been an active trades unionist for 15 years so perhaps I’ve been somewhat sheltered to have never seen this title applied to a speaker on publicity before. Since you know the answer RobM perhaps you can explain.

  8. Yes martin is banned from SU blog.

I have never written an article such as Martin alleges.

Liz davies and Mike Marqusee wrote an article about the cheque signatures, that does not mention any names, and this was ublished on the SUN site, of which Jim Jepps and not myself as the editor.

You will note that we decided to contextualise the article with commentary by Declan o’Neill, to make it clear that no financial dishonesty was involved.

    The article is here.

  9. Actually, Martin, last time you aired these allegations Rob Hoveman himself popped up to reply to you and put you right. As you correctly state, “it’s not clear from the articles whether Newman alleges that Hoveman actually put pen to paper”
Given that he denies he did, and you know that, why do you persist in these allegations. Are you hoping he will crack under the pressure of your constant twittering?

Youv’e really never heard female trades unionists referred to each other as sister before? Perhaps you have been lucky and never had to attend a Trades Council- but no matter, for your education and elucidation the abbreviations Sr or Sis are often used in the minutes of such august bodies. Therefore, when I saw Sr. before the name of YR I immediately thought ‘sister’ not ‘senor’.
Don’t worry about it Martin, I am clearly so much cleverer than you and your mistake is really no disgrace.

By the way, what do you think the ‘Rev’ in Rev Ian Paisley signifies? (I’ll give you a clue- he isn’t an advocate of proletarian dictatorship)

  10. I will delete any further reference to the cheque signing episode in the SA’s history. It’s hard to work out what it has got to do with this meeting, the war or 2008.

  13. Liam, you need to delete my last comment too as it now makes no sense.

And then, having done so, delete this one for the same reason…

  14. Liam, thanks, it’s good to see a consistent level of censorship with RR comrades if nothing else.

  15. Well – lots of leafleting is taking place for this meeting and people seem encouraged by the response. There’s also a push on for a turn out on the demonstration on Saturday.

I’m hoping we’ll get a significant mobilisation from Tower Hamlets and Newham.
