You’d need to be a top grade flibbertygibbet not to be losing sleep on account of the 97% fall in the Baltic dry index and this video of the Green Left’s Sean Thompson will do nothing to put your mind at rest. Sean was speaking at Wednesday’s Socialist Resistance forum. He explains the extent of the ecological crisis; offers a critique of the Green New Deal; adds peak oil into the mix and gets us thinking about mass mobilisations and direct action.

  4. I wish Sean had elaborated more on Sharon Astyk’s position (last minute or so of talk). She’s not a socialist, probably more a deep green, or “back to nature” type, but the point she makes about the need for large annual cuts in carbon emissions of 6-8% coming into conflict with the need for a programme of public works in energy conservation and renewables that could or would lead to a spike in carbon emissions needs to be given more consideration.
