Workers Power leaflet for the construction workers’ strike

This leaflet will be distributed at the Unite and GMB construction workers national shop stewards meeting in Manchester on Monday 9th February.

  2. It must be an oversight but the Workers Power leaflet doesn’t mention their condemnation of the dispute or that the walk out was a “serious mistake”.
    How strange?
They must have forgotten to put it in.
Or have even these most abstract of propagandists changed their tune?

  3. That’s rubbish. We don’t support the strikes. Clearly we need to fight for a total round about turn at this shop stewards meeting. That’s exactly what we are arguing for. There is a reply to Bill here:

  4. So you forgot to include that fact on your leaflet?
    Its a bizarro world.
    Good luck with your intervention.

  5. It also reveals a certain disdain for the shop stewards, if indeed you continue to condemn the strikes but had “forgotten” to say so. Don’t you think they know what the left say?

    Imagine the conversation;

Shop steward 1; “There was these students standing outside giving out this leaflet – I think its not bad.”

Shop steward 2: “Did it mention they condemned the strikes and the agreement and the stewards, and that they think we’re all nationalists and soft on racism?”

Shop steward 1: “Funnily enough they forgot to put that in.”

    Laughter.

  6. Good luck for the meeting – it would good if a strategy comes out of this meeting and others for the Trade unions to take the demands agreed by the strike committee out to the working class.

The meeting has also been posted on the Green Left (Green Party) web site.

  7. Unity in action, a joint Socialist Party – Respect meeting. How long have we waited for this sort of joint action/working together?
    Well done all involved.

Now if only the Greens and the CP (Morning Star) would agree to more of the same! (I hold out no hope for the SWP being interested after their actions over the last 12 months).

  8. Good to see this meeting happening, I’d been hoping it would. Any chance of touring it up to (not so cold) Manchester?

  12. Fair dos. I don’t have a problem with the Socialist Party strongly supporting Jerry Hicks and wanting a picture of him in front of their banner.
