COTL The Convention of the Left aims to bring people together in order to discuss how we make the green, left, socialist and radical alternative a reality.

Before this year’s Labour Conference in Manchester, we are developing a weekend of
debate. We want all local and national, green and left, groups and organisations,
especially alliances against the cuts, to join in building unity to stop the cuts.

24-25 September 2010, Manchester.

Visit the website at http://www.conventionoftheleft.org for more details and registration or to make a donation towards the cost of the event.

  1. This convention deserves mass support from all those wanting to fight the CONDEM cuts and neo liberal agenda and imperialist war for a DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST GRASSROOTS AND COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE.

All those Socialists, community activists, active trade unionists and trade unions and all those parts of the Left which are genuinely interested in building a Left socialist alternative need to come together in a spirit of unity and help move the anti cuts agenda forward through helping to uniting the evergrowing anti cuts groups and linking struggles with the ultimate aim of creating a new Left and democratic socialist grassroots alternative.

What, however, we dont need is further distraction from the task at hand with ever more boring and mindless speaches from the last remnants of the revisionist Labour Left eg J McDonnel and J Corbyn imploring us to reclaim New Labour…….yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn ! If they want to gain some much needed credibility and a new lease of life then leave New Labour now and take any fellow remaining credible socialist activists with them.

  3. Much more important than this is the new anti-cuts coalition – 70 or so initial signatures topped by Tony Benn, which has announced itself including in the Guardian.

This looks like it could be the beginning of something real, that can strike out independently of New Labour and begin to mobilise real resistance on a class basis.
