image Respect’s annual party conference will take place on Saturday 13 November 2010 from 10.00am to 6.00pm at the University of London Union building in Malet Street, London.

The conference will be open to all members and supporters of Respect on payment of a delegates fee. This level of this fee will be decided at the National Council to be held on 11th September and registration will then be made available online at www.respectparty.org .

More details of the conference agenda will be included in the next edition of Respect Quarterly.

National Council

The deadline for nominations to National Council is 18 September 2010. Those wishing to nominate themselves for the National Council – which meets around six times a year – must be paid up members of Respect on the day of the deadline. Members who pay a national standing order to the party are automatically re-registered.

This year, in line with a decision of the 2009 conference, the National Council will be elected by both regional elections and at the national conference. More details for nominees are contained on the nomination form.

Motions and amendments

The deadline for motions for the conference is midnight on 8 October 2010 while that for amendments is midnight on 6 November 2010.

Motions may be submitted by any Respect branch or by six members. Branches may submit up to 2 motions. Members may put their names to a maximum of two motions.

Motions and subsequent amendments will be published on the national Respect party website.

  1. Respect, is the future of the British left,Yaqoob is the face and intelect, taking away the shallowness of image, of what Britain is now multicultural. There are over 53 million muslims in Europe, and they recon in the next ten years that to climb.

Gone is the day of the Raj, gone is the day of white control,in finance no colour bounds only profit and its exploytation. We us defenders of our history of our education are the same as those who outside our world share the same.

Muslim people will account for 0ver twenty per cent of europes population come 20 20 they say, knowing the number crunchers figuers i would add another 15.They say that Mohamed is going to be the most popular name for 2010,no matter what gets your knee to bend Mohamed and his thoughts are here to stay.

  4. Dave – unless it develops something distinctive to say about the Con Dem government and has a real profile in the upcoming defensive struggles I’m not certain that its future is that rosy.

That’ll be one of the main debates at conference I’d guess.

  5. Looks like the ultra left abstentionists, sectarians and liquidators will be abandoning the Respect project and the Muslim communities in which it has found support. Excellent. At the same time the right opportunists appear to believe that careers can no longer be made in Respect and are heading back to New Labour (not for tactical reasons but because `that’s where its at’). Should be a good conference.

  6. The hurdles for socialism, and its being ,is the transformation of mind set.The capitol moves quickly as does its adherants not only in its blatant world but also in its socialist.

Respect,as a politicale party addresses the social concept.Yet like all pretender parties on the left,do not address the hurdle of religious freedom.
